Let’s Grab a Cup of Coffee

Let’s grab a cup of coffee and talk. Let’s share something with each other that we struggle with – I’ll go first…. I struggle with wanting to have control. Now, by control, I mean I like to think that I know better than God. Thinking I know better than the one who knows everything and knows better than me, Ha! Shame on me. But it’s so easy for us to think that we know what’s best for us. But have you realized when we think we know what’s best, the weight builds up? Anxiety creeps in and takes over. It’s because we are not meant to carry it all on our own. That’s why God tells us in Matthew 11:29 ESV “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest.”

Here is what the NLT says – “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Wow! I don’t know about you, but when the weight builds up, anxiety creeps in. It gets to a point where it is too much to bear. So, I have to lay it at His feet and say, “I can’t anymore God, but you can!”

It’s such a relief when we finally do realize that we can’t handle it alone and that we need help. It’s okay to ask for help, it doesn’t mean that we’re weak. Jesus wants us to come to Him. So many times I’ve been trying to do things on my own. I let the weight get so heavy. When I finally release it and hand it back over to God, I know He’s been standing there. He waits with arms wide open. God waits for me to come to Him and give it all to Him.

So, the next time you and I want to take control, we need to remember one thing. We were not meant to handle this life on our own. We also need to recognize that we want to take control. When we feel it start to creep in, we turn to God and say, “It’s all yours. Will you help me not to take control? You are the one who knows what’s best.”
